Learn Japanese Cuisine in English!

Are you looking for a unique cultural experience while in Japan? Uzuki is a fun and intimate way to learn about Japanese cuisine during your stay in Kyoto.

Held in small groups at my house, by joining us you’ll learn about Japanese home-cooking, not just the sushi and tempura served in restaurants. I try to use organic ingredients to create healthy dishes. And after cooking, we all share the meal together. This, all in a real Japanese home!

Learn about Japan Through Food

I was born in Kyoto and love Japanese food. I used to teach English to kids, while my husband makes traditional Japanese ceramics. Together, we wish to share Japanese culture while connecting with people from all over the world. I am not a professional chef but have always believed food brings people together. Some of you may be intimidated by Japanese food, but the relaxed, intimate atmosphere of my lessons lets people relax and allows for intercultural communication.

Some Japanese people think their feelings and aspects of Japanese culture cannot be understood by foreigners. Of course there are big differences between many cultures, but when we talk person-to-person, we can reach understanding while recognizing those diffierences. And good food makes everyone happy! No matter how old you are, or the color of your skin – enjoying delicious food is universal.
